Difference in classes of rich and poor

Some people think that in order to produce a happy society, it is necessary to ensure that there is only a small difference between the earnings of the richest and poorest. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Some pupils believe that a considerable difference between the income of the rich class and the poor people is one of the reasons for an unhappy society. This essay will show that the aforementioned opinion holds owing to the reason that a huge difference between the standards of rich a poor creates a feeling of jealousy.

Admittedly, a huge difference between the lifestyle of the so-called elite with the underprivileged can trigger a feeling of jealousy among the underprivileged, especially if they live in the same neighborhood. Consequently, a high crime rate can be expected that includes robbery, murder, and rape etc. This causes a divide within a society, leading to an unhappy society where the two see each other as enemies. For example, in major cities like Peshawar and Islamabad etc., crimes like mobile snatching and car lifting have become very common, and very little resistance can cause the culprit to shoot the victims on the spot, which in most cases leads to the death of the victim. This shows the extreme hatred towards the victim, supposedly from the rich class.

Alternately, when there is little difference between the earnings of the rich and the impoverished, the crime rate is most likely low as there is no resentment. Moreover, in a society with normalized wages, people will be more motivated to pursue their dream job instead of a high-paid job. Resultantly, we will be able to achieve a happy community. For instance, in countries like Japan, a cab driver is paid more or less the same as an engineer. Since both are paid the same salaries, no feeling of resentment exists between the two.

To conclude, a prosperous society is one where little difference exists in life-style and earnings of the rich and poor, therefore, such measured must be ensured.
