Task 2

It is better for children if the whole family including aunts, uncles, and grandparents are involved in a child’s upbringing, rather than just their parents. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is commonly believed that extended family, including aunts and uncles, and grandparents etc. should take part in child-rearing in addition to a child's parents. I fully agree with this statement, and this essay will show that raising a kid, which is a difficult job for many reasons, requires involvement of the entire family.

Different family members have their own distinct roles to play when it comes to raising a child, as they all have different personalities. For example, an aunt or an uncle can be someone a child feels more comfortable with when it comes to sharing problems. Similarly, grandparents can offer the kindness a kid needs sometimes. This will give the parents room to be strict with their children when they misbehave. Thus a balance is created in nurturing the child and the entire family contributes to achieving it. Therefore, I fully agree with this way of upbringing.

On the other hand, a child raised just by parents may not be raised very well from society's point of view. Even if the child's mother and father are trying their best, a child may face deficiencies when it comes to nurturing. For example, a child may grow up to be an introvert and trust only his parents. This may cause less interaction with other family members or even his friends. Consequently, a feeling of loneliness will prevail. It is for this reason that I am against the idea of children raised only by parents.

To conclude, the proper upbringing of a child needs a collective effort and involvement of the whole family. Alternatively, the involvement of only mother and father in bringing up their child may result in improper upbringing.
